Hey there, ever thought what keeps our feet on the Earth even it is spherical? Let me tell you a secret, here is a force called Gravitational Force. Let me take you in Newton's era...

Newton, in 1687, discovered that there is existence of a force between two masses. For example, two people sitting in a room, the sun and the earth, and so on exert force on each other. You won't believe it but you are attracted to your partner. The force between two masses is canned gravitational force. 

We are surrounded by gravitational force. It is what decides how much you and me weigh and how far a football will travel when thrown before it returns to the surface. The gravitational force on the Earth is equal to the force the Earth exerts on you and me. At rest, on or near the surface of the Earth, the gravitational force equals your weight. On a different astronomical body like Venus or the Moon, the acceleration of gravity is different than it is on the Earth, so if you were to stand on a weighing balance, it will show you that you weigh a different amount ( more or less) than on the Earth. In other simple words, it is what governs the universe.
