Let BringMeKnowledge take you into the space, the nearest galaxy from us. ;)

Andromeda Galaxy is also known as Messier 31 (M31) or Andromeda Nebula. It's a galaxy like our Milky Way formed roughly 10 billion years ago.

It is 2.357 million light years far from us, being the nearest galaxy. It is estimated that it has mass of 20%-50% more than the Milky Way Galaxy or 1230 billion solar-mass. It contains 1 trillion stars (1*10^12 stars) in it. It's estimated than it has a diameter of 220000 light years which is roughly twice the number estimated for our Milky Way.

It is so massive and coming close to us due to gravitational force. It will collide with our Milky Way in around 4.5 billion years. It has capacity to make the whole MAN-KIND on there knees. Just chill 4.5 billion years is so long.

Some facts about Andromeda Galaxy-

1st- Andromeda galaxy is the most distant object visible with unaided eye.

2nd- Andromeda galaxy has two satellite galaxies-M32 and M110. Milky Way also has 2 satellite galaxies.

3rd- M31 aka Andromeda Galaxy is the largest in the local group of galaxies, followed by Milky Way and Triangulum Galaxy.

4th- Hubble has resolved some of the brighter individual star in M31.

5th- Though Andromeda galaxy is the largest, it is considered that Milky way has more dark matter and thus is more massive.

6th- Andromeda galaxy is moving towards us at a speed of about 110 km per second. Still it would take it 4 billion years to reach the Milky Way.

7th- Andromeda galaxy has a supermassive black hole at it's nucleus.

8th- More than twenty five black holes have been discovered at it's center.

9th- If any civilization in M31 has made so powerful telescopes that it can see The Earth really closely,it would see dinosaurs roaming on the earth.

10th-It has more than 450 globular clusters orbiting it.

Bonus Fact ;)

There is an evidence that the satellite galaxies of M31 occasionally are “ripped of". Not completely but they might a lose a considerable amount of stars and dust while travelling close to the center of M31
