Have you ever thought why sun rises and sets? Let me tell you a fact, sun never rises or sets instead of  that we (the earth) revolve around the sun. Mind = blown, right?

Hey friends, my  name is Yuvraj Ray, and today we are going to talk about the reason of planetary motion or why planets revolve around the sun. C'on, let's get started.

In our solar system, there are eight planets, right? Yeah, I know you knew it. Intelligent, huh? These eight planets are moving around the sun in a circular orbit. When a body moves in a circular path, a force named centripetal force acts on it. The centripetal fore acts radially inward towards the center.

The centripetal force continuously changes the direction of motion ( direction of velocity) of the body. The centripetal force is not a real force and hence it is to be provided by some other forces. Now, for a planet to move around the sun in a circular orbit, the necessary centripetal force for each planet is provided. In the planetary motion, the necessary centripetal force for each planet is provided by the gravitational force between the sun and the planet.
